Earrings are a staple in any woman’s jewelry collection. The most popular type of earring is stud earrings. These earrings come in a wide range of sizes and styles and sometimes feature gemstones such as one-carat diamonds. Here are the top styles of stud earrings for those who wish to buy a pair for their girlfriend, spouse or significant other.
The most common type of stud earrings is simple gold studs. These earrings can be any shape and size, although some of the most popular shapes include stars and flowers. Currently, the most popular gold stud earrings feature Celtic knots, especially those associated with the Trinity and marriage. The more ornate gold earrings may feature some small stones, but typically not one-carat diamonds or other gemstones of that size.
Diamond stud earrings are the most popular type of earring and there are several different styles that depend on the shape of the diamond. Round Brilliant diamond studs are the most popular all of the diamond earrings on the market. The most common diamond earrings consist of one large one-carat diamond that is set in a prong setting. These earrings may also make use of several diamonds of the same size to create shapes such as dollar signs, flowers, heart and stars, to name a few, although some earrings mimic engagement rings and feature one large one-carat diamonds surrounded by several smaller diamonds of a smaller, equal size.
Princess cut diamond studs are the next most popular type of stud earrings. These earrings typically appear in two different styles. The first most common style is as single, large 1/4 ctw to one-carat diamonds set in a prong setting that is quite similar to solitaire settings on engagement rings. The other popular style of stud earrings featuring princess cut diamonds makes use of several small princess cut diamonds adding up to the weight of one-carat diamonds that are set in a square-shaped channel or bezel setting.
One style of stud earrings that is quite unique is one that makes use of diamonds and pearls. In pearl and diamond earrings, the pearl is the focal point and the diamond are accenting pieces that are usually 1/4 ctw and add up to at least that of one-carat diamonds. The pearls are usually between 8 and 8 mm in diameter.
Pearl studs are particularly popular amongst brides. These stud earrings do not have any diamonds in them and consist of a large pearl ranging between 5 and 10 mm in size, although the most popular size is between 6 and 8 mm. These earrings are also quite popular as gifts for any occasion which make them the most versatile stud earrings.
